Autumn News
It's been a busy few weeks as we move into the depths of autumn and look forward to winter. Our turkey chicks
arrived some weeks ago and are looking very healthy and happy. We make sure they have plenty to keep
themselves busy by putting some toys in their area. They particularly like mirrors and old CDs hanging from string.
If you'd like to order your Christmas turkey (or ham, beef or sausages, for that matter) from us,
please get in touch or call into the Farm Shop.
The rams are about to be introduced to their 'wives' in order that we'll have some lovely lamb to sell next year.
We've had the vet to visit to check that the cows are in calf, and so we're looking forward to a successful
calving season in the spring. In the shop, we're busy making pumpkin soup and other autumnal
treats for our lunchtime snacks, as well as our usual homemade sausage rolls, pasties and roast meat baps.
We have special offers on large packs of minced beef or stewing beef (see home page) which are great if
you're planning on making a big chilli or lasagne for a Hallowe'en or bonfire party. We're also now taking orders
for mutton, which seems to be coming back into fashion in a big way. We think this is great as it's
a delicious tasting meat. As usual, get in touch through telephone or email, or call into the shop and have a chat.
Summer News
Welcome to our Farm News page! We hope to keep you up to date with what's happening on the farm
and at Farthings, our farm shop. Farthings is in Dulverton, our nearest town (some may say that's stretching
it a bit, with a population of around 1600), and this is where we sell a large proportion of our meat. We're
currently coming to the end of a roaring summer, despite the Exmoor weather, and we enjoyed celebrating
our first shop birthday in July.
The men in the family are keeping busy on the farm, not only ensuring a constant supply of excellent meat, but
also trying to finish making hay and silage to feed the animals through the winter. This is a task which is usually
complete around the end of July! I won't moan about the weather again, as we've all heard too much of that this
year already, suffice to say lets keep our fingers crossed for a better run next year! We're also gearing up to sell
some Christmas turkeys - yes I know it's only August but people do like to plan ahead! If you're interested in a
beautiful free-range turkey from our farm, drop us an e-mail or a phone call and we'll reserve one for you.
We really do like to hear feedback from you on our products. If you have bought our meat, either from the
website, the shop or direct from the farm and have something to say about it, please let us know by email or
phone. And if you liked it, please tell your friends!
